OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION is this exceptional ANTIQUE DUTCH SILVER FIGURINE POTPOURRI or Havdalah Spice Tower from very early 19th Century. This Potpourri or Spice Tower - both containers meant to hold a mix of scented dry flowers to freshen the air and enjoy the smell - consists of an oval container with pierced lid, bird finial on top, and two-wheel chariot with a pair of horses. You can find the stunning decorative works everywhere .. hand-engraving Rococo motifs on the surface of container, pierced work on the lid and wheels, chased decoration on the horses, and heads of mythological creature under the container. Masterful attention to details!
The hallmark is most probably Dutch Silver Guarantee Mark of .833 purity silver for large items, used between 1807-1810 (Kingdom of Holland.) There is also a very similar Austro-Hungarian hallmark from the same period.
