Delighted to have for sale this magnificent quality Antique French Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl, finely crafted by known and renown prestigious Parisian silversmith Cardeilhac, founded by Antoine-Vital Cardeilhac in 1804. This fabulous Sugar Bowl showcases the Cardeilhac's trademark Rococo and Neo Classical style; gorgeously decorated with intricate Repoussé (embossed) pattern from top to bottom.
One of the main attraction to this stunning Sugar Bowl is a centralised oval cartouche with raised monogram OSM - Who was it? Your imagination can go as far as it gets. The side handles have quite rare design with spur-shaped accent on classic acanthus leaf pattern. The interior has gorgeous Vermeil finish (gold-washed over sterling silver.)
Hallmarked the French Minerva No.1 Titre mark on each parts, including the lid, which guaranteed 950/1000 purity solid sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest standards of silver - higher than 925/1000 sterling. "CARDEILHAC PARIS" brand mark, along with maker's mark of C. Belard, active in Paris around 1870s (probably they collaborated some works.)
